How can I improve my basketball game?

I'm going in to 9th grade and I want to be on JV this coming season. I was on freshman in 8th grade, but I never did any leagues or a travel team, so basically that was my first team, I've just always played for fun. I'm really good at tricks, shooting, and everything, but when I get in a game, I'm not very good. I don't know why though. I guess I'm not "basketball" smart. I have the skills, but I don't know when to use them in a game I guess. How can I improve or help this problem.
