Will my disk drive still work?

hey guys its Gracie here (: i have a desktop tht has not been used for a year now, its not broken or anything. i moved last year, and i used my moms computer for awhile, but i want my old omputer bak, its currently unplugged in the basement. i am a HUGE fan of the sims 2, but i dont want it to not work anymore cuz ive worked hard for all the custom content, and i lost some of the expansion packs. my mom is planning on getting it workin again today, but if she does, will i lose all my games and everything else on my computer since i havnt used it in a year?
